growing a following is tough, but we are making progress. each platform responds better the different aspects of my art. i find it interesting how straight reddit is compared to the rest of the furry spaces, though there is still a lot of gay to go around on there as well. and we're better for it.

detour by Kim Petras is the best album of 2026. sorry underscores you've been dethroned. the eponymous song starts the album off with a serious earworm. the vocals are so fun and the lyrics really hit for me. starting the album off with "this is the beginning of the end" really sets the tone so well. dtla is a bop with a twangy angle and a surprisingly powerful ballad in the final third. i like ur look was the lead single for good reason, so fun, the melody is so energetic. my favorite song on the album though might be polo. when I was listening to this song i was overcome with a need to draw Kim in a polo. the song is just pure confidence. she just kills it, and the beat blows up everything in the room. the second half of the album took a little longer to grow on me, but the more subdued tracks are really beautiful. brutalist is a song that really spoke to me. the idea of fixating on an inanimate object or a place as a symbol of a relationship and the complex emotions you feel regarding it hits close to home. i like the jumping back and forth between taking a bomb to the building that was destroyed and taking a knife to her hair, strong imagery. her vocals at the end are so raw i love it. my other favorite on the album is jeep. it's a nice change of pace, and the chopped guitar with the ambient synths are a really beautiful vibe. i also love the weird improvisational spoken word section toward the end. "do some middle american shit or some shit" is becoming a vocal stim. korea has some really deep droning bass that's produced very cleanly. the album ends with freak it, a straightforward banger. she screams the chorus and it wakes me want to scream along. i haven't felt this enraptured by an album in actual years. im looking forward to hearing more from Kim in the future. easy 10/10

set a deadline to have things up and running by this monday. finished work on the main components of the website. there is still a lot to improve on with it, but i am nt currently in a big programming mood. i plan to add a lot more in the future. the main thing i want is a fluid gallery page where all my work can be viewed. the issue with this at the moment is my server host doesnt allow nsfw. for now i will keep the gallery unimplemented. that can be a future project when i have the passion for it.

i hate vscode. i hate its obtuse design. i hate its mandatory copilot integration. i hate its relentless bugginess and inconsistency. i am willing to admit user error in many instances, but this software is unreletentingly frustrating and unhelpful.

there is a severe problem with the formatting of the website in its current state. the background leaves are resizing the window, causing the display to freak out, especially when resized or zoomed. this is particularly evident on mobile browsers. i intend to fix this by implementing a canvas for the animated background. this will likely need to wait until the weekend.

ive been thinking about how i am going to roll out all of my socials soon. im still unsure of exactly how i want to do it. im so anxious about doing everything right and appeasing the algorithm that i feel immobilized. i think the main reason its so hard for me is that i don't know what the right moves are. it seems like you can do everything right and still get shadow banned or still get no traction. the numbers shouldn't be all that matters, but they're all i can think about.

listened to i love my computer by ninajirachi for the first time this week. its a really good album start to finish. love the energy. my favorite song on the album is either csirac or battery death. its rare that i enjoy an album start to finish these days, but this album really sunk its hooks in me. the production mixes the smooth, calm flows of 2000s trance with the more punchy stabs that i love in modern edm. the songs transition effortlessly into one another in a satisfying way. keeps the energy up. the lyrics are almost disconcertingly relatable. the nostalgia for adolescencence in the 00s mixes with complex emotions of growing up in the information age. i was thinking about infohazard today. as i was listening to the song, i was turning over in my head whether it was in good taste or not. it is a dance oriented song about a snuff film she stumbled onto when she was using the computer as a child. ultimately there is nothing wrong with the song. it is a product of her experience and an expression of her feelings about a complicated trauma in her childhood. expressing oneself through music can be cathartic. that the song has an upbeat tempo does not inherently make it light or positive. electronic music is as viable a medium as any for complex emotional expression, and this topic was handled tastefully. the remixes of some of the other tracks on the album have been excellent too. underscores' remix of its you melts. felt like i was 12 again listening to dubstep for the first time. also s/o horsegiirl, nice groove on the delete remix. if youre reading this go listen to the album god damn
